Mud on the road lets you bring visible mud onto roads, yards and tracks. You also get a small A-frame “Mud on road” warning sign, which fits right in with the scene.

Features

• Your tyres only start dropping mud when they really have mud on them, the same mud the game shows after field work. Clean tyres and washed tyres leave no mess behind.
• Take muddy tyres onto a road, yard or track and they leave smeared tyre prints while throwing clods around. Drive faster and the clods fly farther across the road.
• The mud comes off as you drive. That means the tyres gradually clean themselves, and the trail fades away over a few hundred metres.
• Turn the wheels through a corner and the smears turn with them.
• Drive over mud that is already there to build it up. Old mud gets freshened and thicker, while new layers settle over the top.
• It works with every vehicle and trailer that has wheels, including AI helpers.

Cleaning up

• Rain takes care of road mud. Heavy rain clears it in about 5 in-game hours, while light rain takes around half a day.
• With dry weather, the mud dries out, turns pale and disappears after about three in-game days.
• Turn on any sweeper brush and it removes the mud along the path it covers.
• You can also scrape it up with a bucket. Put a loader, telehandler or wheel loader bucket down with the lip on the road, then push forward. The bucket receives the mud as manure in the base game, or as mud/dirt/soil when another mod adds that fill type.

Good to know

• Your savegame keeps the mud.
• Multiplayer: the mud is purely visual and worked out on each PC, so it creates no network traffic.
• Settings: modSettings/FS25_MudOnRoad.xml appears on first start. You can adjust how long mud stays, how far it gets carried, how many clods are thrown, the maximum mud on the map and more.
• Multiplayer is now supported.

Press ~ for the console commands:

• mudOnRoadLoadTyres covers your tyres with mud for testing, single player or host use.
• mudOnRoadClear cleans all roads.
• mudOnRoadInfo tells you how much mud is lying around.
• mudOnRoadToggle switches mud dropping on or off.
• mudOnRoadBucketInfo tells you why your bucket is or isn’t scraping mud.

  Multiplayer: mud now comes from the server, so everyone sees the same mud on the roads. Join a server later and you will still see all mud already placed there. Sweeping, bucket scraping, rain washing and drying out now match for every player.

  • Instead of patchy prints, tyre marks now make one continuous trail.
  • The prints have torn, overlapping ends, which makes the trail look natural instead of blocky.
  • The mud colour is darker and more realistic.
  • Smooth roads, yards and flat painted tracks keep the smears. Grass verges, gateways, gravel and uneven ground get mud lumps only, so rough ground no longer shows smears that look like planks.
  • Vehicles only drop mud just after leaving a worked field, whether it was ploughed, cultivated, sown etc. Grass fields do not count, and muddy vehicles leaving the yard no longer make a trail.
  • The trail finishes 600 m after the field, or earlier when the tyres are clean.
  • The tyres throw around twice as many lumps, and more crumbs remain in the tyre prints.
  • New options include maxTrailDistance, trail length after the field, smearsOnTerrain, smears on all ground, hardGroundSmears, smears on hard painted ground, and flatTolerance, how flat painted ground must be for smears.
  • The settings file resets to the new defaults on first start.
