Want a quick look at what your animals are doing in FS25? The Animal Food Calculator, or AFC, puts the overview right in the animal menu. You can see animal consumption, production and selling prices without leaving that menu.
AFC leaves animal consumption, production, prices, shearing times and husbandry capacities alone by default. Nothing changes automatically. You decide when to enable or adjust the matching AFC features, and the values stay as they are until you do.
Input and output display
Open the animal menu and AFC shows the amounts your animals consume and produce.
- Food consumption
- Water requirements
- Straw consumption
- Milk, manure, slurry, wool, eggs and goat milk production
That makes it simpler to work out your supplies, storage, feed planning and production amounts while you manage the farm.
What appears depends on the animal type, husbandry and active mods. AFC works with the animal data actually available, showing only values that fit the selected husbandry and animal type.
Animal Value Advisor
AFC also tells you in the animal overview when your animals reach their best selling price. The short note sits right next to the current animal value:
- Xmeans the best selling price will be reached in X months.TOPmeans the animal is currently in the best price range.+Xmeans the animal is already X months beyond the best price range.
Example:
- 6= 6 months until the best priceTOP= the optimal selling range has been reached+4= 4 months beyond the best selling range
Several months can have the same top price, and AFC handles that too. When the highest selling price stays the same across a period, the whole period appears as TOP.
The Animal Value Advisor follows the reference source you have active. Switch between Map, Custom, Basegame or AnimalPackage and the purchase prices, selling prices, transport costs and displayed best selling time change with it.
Select reference source
Your animal values can come from different sources in AFC. The source you select becomes the basis for the display, calculation, scaling and animal prices.
That choice is especially useful with mod maps, custom animal values or the AnimalPackage.
Available reference sources:
- Basegame: This uses the animal values from the base game. It suits you when you want to stay as close as possible to the standard FS experience.
- Map: AFC reads the animal values from the map you are currently playing when that map has its own
animals.xml. This works especially well for mod maps with their own animal balancing. - AnimalPackage: AFC uses the values from FS25_AnimalPackage_vanillaEdition by BavarianRedneck. If the AnimalPackage is active, its animal types and values are handled accordingly.
- Custom: AFC reads its own
animals.xmlstraight from the mod. Pick this when you want to deliberately adjust your animal values without changing the map or other mods.
Before offering a source, AFC checks it against the animal SubTypes of the map you are playing. When the map has its own animals or different SubTypes, references that do not fit are left out.
Custom appears only when it fully contains all SubTypes from the map. If matching entries are missing, the Map reference keeps the default values.
Scale inputs and outputs
AFC is not limited to showing numbers. You can optionally scale the real in-game inputs and outputs as well. This has to be selected deliberately in the AFC settings, so it is always your choice.
- Play more relaxed
- Manage more realistically
- Balance larger farms better
- Make longer months more useful
- Set consumption and production higher or lower
For that balancing, AFC offers several scaling modes:
- Basegame: There is no extra AFC scaling here. AFC still uses the reference source you selected, but it does not calculate another factor. The multiplier is effectively 1.0.
- Auto: Scaling follows the selected days per month automatically. More days per month can mean that animals consume and produce more over the month.
- Manual: Only the multiplier you choose is used. Days per month are not included automatically, giving you full control over how strong the scaling is.
- Hybrid: Both systems work together. AFC scales the values with the selected days per month and then adjusts them with your own multiplier. This is the most flexible option when you want to tune your balancing very precisely.
Own animals.xml in the mod
If you want to set up your own animal values, AFC already includes its own animals.xml inside the mod.
That file can hold custom reference values for consumption, production and animal prices. You can use those values through the Custom reference source.
Depending on the animal type, the Custom file may include:
- Food
- Water
- Straw
- Milk
- Manure
- Slurry
- Wool
- Eggs
- Goat milk
- Purchase price
- Selling price
- Transport costs
Once Custom is the active reference, consumption, production and animal prices belong to one shared AFC balancing profile. The Animal Value Advisor uses those Custom prices too.
This gives you a way to play with your personal balancing without directly editing the map, the base game or other animal mods.
Compatibility with EnhancedAnimalSystem and AnimalPackage
AFC is designed to be used with EnhancedAnimalSystem and FS25_AnimalPackage_vanillaEdition.
With EnhancedAnimalSystem running, AFC includes supported extra logic such as lactation factors. That helps the display and calculations line up more closely with the extended animal behavior.
