Mud on the road V2.9.0.0

Mud On The Road makes your vehicles, trailers and roads look properly muddy. You get tyre smears, flying clods and mud that builds up as you drive.

Features

  • Your tyres only drop mud when they really have mud on them, the same mud the game shows after field work. Wash or clean the tyres first and they leave nothing behind.
  • Take muddy tyres onto roads, yards or tracks and they leave tyre-print smears while throwing clods away. Drive faster and those clods travel farther over the road.
  • The tyres gradually lose their mud as you keep going. They clean themselves up while the trail fades over a few hundred metres.
  • Steer through a corner and the smears curve along with the wheels.
  • Drive across old mud and it gets freshened and thicker, with each new layer going over the last one.
  • It works with every vehicle and trailer that has wheels, including AI helpers.
  • Rain can wash the road clean. Heavy rain clears the mud in about 5 in-game hours, while light rain takes around half a day.
  • When the weather stays dry, the mud dries out, turns pale and disappears after about three in-game days.
  • Turn on any sweeper brush and it removes the mud wherever it passes.
  • You can also scrape the road with a bucket. Put a loader, telehandler or wheel loader bucket down with its lip on the road and push ahead. The mud goes into the bucket as manure in the base game, or as mud/dirt/soil if another mod adds that fill type.
  • Your savegame keeps the mud.
  • In multiplayer, the effect is visual and calculated on each PC, so it creates no network traffic.
  • Multiplayer now supported.

Universal Bucket with Brush

  • For telehandlers, this bucket has a Cherry-style road brush. You get a galvanised hood, black arms, yellow poly bristles and a hydraulic motor.
  • Shop: Telehandler tools.
  • Price: £5,000.

Mud On Road Sign

  • Place a small A-frame “Mud on road” warning sign in the UK road-sign style.
  • Shop: Decorations.
  • Price: 25.

Specifications

  • Universal Bucket with Brush: Shop: Telehandler tools, £5,000.
  • Mud On Road Sign: Shop: Decorations, price 25.

Settings: On the first start, the mod creates modSettings/FS25_MudOnRoad.xml. You can change the time mud remains, the distance it travels, the number of clods thrown, the map’s maximum mud amount and more.

Console commands, press ~:

  • mudOnRoadLoadTyres – covers your tyres in mud, for testing, single player or host.
  • mudOnRoadClear – cleans every road.
  • mudOnRoadInfo – shows how much mud is lying around.
  • mudOnRoadToggle – turns mud dropping on or off.
  • mudOnRoadBucketInfo – shows why your bucket is or is not scraping mud.

V2.9.0.0

  • NEW: Bucket Brush, Universal Bucket with Brush: bring a telehandler bucket with a Cherry-style road brush into the shop. It comes with a galvanised hood, black arms, yellow poly bristles and a hydraulic motor. Shop: Telehandler tools, £5,000.
  • Use it just like any other implement. Move forward or reverse and it sweeps road mud into the bucket. When the bucket is full, it leaves the mud on the road.
  • While the brush is on the road, mud sprays from the bristles into the bucket and you hear a real brushing sound.
  • Tip the bucket and the brush swings out of the way under its own weight. It then drops back into place.
  • Pick the fitting you need in the shop: universal hooks, JCB Q-Fit, Manitou, Merlo, Euro (Claas, Kramer, Weidemann) or tractor front loader. Hydraulic hoses connect to the telehandler.
  • Changed, removed: clean vehicles no longer pick up and spread mud, and traffic no longer squashes clods.

V2.8.0.0

  • New: even a clean vehicle can drive through mud, pick some up and spread it farther along the road. Traffic squashes clods too and carries them off.
  • New: the muddier the work, the muddier the roads. Ploughed and cultivated ground, root crops (sugar beet, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions) and wet weather leave more mud behind. Stubble, direct drilling and dry days leave less.
  • New: dried mud looks wet again once the ground gets wet, then dries back to pale.
  • New: leaving heavy mud on public roads brings fines. You receive a warning first. If the mud stays there, your farm is fined at every check, up to 2,000.
  • Mud within 200 m of a Mud On Road sign never counts, and mud on your own land does not count either. Switch fines off with mudOnRoadFines or in the settings file.
  • New: soil colours include brown (standard), dark (peat / fen), chalk (pale chalky soil) and red (red clay). Set the colour for a savegame with mudOnRoadSoil followed by the colour, for example mudOnRoadSoil red. Road mud that is already there changes colour too.
  • New console commands: mudOnRoadSoil and mudOnRoadFines. The mudOnRoadInfo command also shows how much of your mud counts towards a fine.
  • Removed: the experimental sticking mud.
  • Fixed: in multiplayer, mud sent while a player is joining can no longer stop the game loading. The settings file was updated, and old settings files are replaced with the new defaults on first start.

V2.7.0.0

  • Multiplayer: the server now sends the mud to everyone, so all players see the same mud on the roads. A player joining later also sees mud that was already there.
  • Sweeping, bucket scraping, rain washing and drying now work the same way for every player.
  • New: wet worked fields flick mud up from the tyres.
  • New: wet field work makes the areas near the wheels muddier.
  • The settings file was updated. Old settings files are replaced with the new defaults.
