The Hesston 5580 is a true icon of agricultural history. Known for its rugged simplicity and “old-school” charm, this retro baler is perfect for farmers who appreciate vintage machinery that simply gets the job done without the complexity of modern electronics.
Quick Start Guide & Controls
– Operating this classic machine is straightforward.
Follow these steps to get your hay baled:
– Hitch It Up: First, attach the Hesston 5580 to the rear of your tractor. Ensure the PTO and hydraulic lines are properly connected.
– Lower the Pickup: Before starting, lower the pickup reel to the ground so it can gather the windrowed material.
– Power On (B): Press the [B] key to engage the drive mechanism and start the baling process.
– Baling: Drive over your windrows. The machine will roll the material into a tight, uniform round bale.
– Unload (Z): Once the bale reaches 100% fill level, stop the tractor. Press the [Z] key to open the rear tailgate and eject the finished bale.
