Patch 1.25 changed the distance check between fence posts, so some husbandry mods could no longer be placed. This mod gets them placeable again. When you build a pasture, its short built-in fence segments can get through the placement check.
The patch brought in a minimum length for each fence segment, based on that fence’s shortest panel. A pasture with a built-in fence checks all of those built-in segments as you place it. One segment under the minimum is enough to block the whole pasture everywhere. You see “Distance too short” on the cursor, while the log shows nothing.
Think of this as a temporary bridge for husbandry mod authors. They can update their mods for patch 1.25 without having to rush. This fix will be retired in a while, once authors have had time to update. When the husbandry mods you use receive their updates, you can remove this mod and no longer need it.
Features
- Pastures place again, even when a built-in fence includes a short segment, just like they did before patch 1.25
- It should work with every pasture, with no settings to handle and no changes made to the husbandry mod
- Short segments look the way they did before 1.25, so a segment that cannot fit one panel gets no fence panel
- Your own fences still follow the new rule. That includes fences you draw with the fence tool and the customizable side of a pasture, both of which still need the 1.25 minimum length
- There is no saved data to manage. The mod writes no savegame data, and pastures placed with it keep loading after you take the mod out
- Singleplayer only, this version does not support multiplayer
Limitations
- A short built-in segment does not receive a fence panel, so the visible fence has a gap at that spot, as it did before patch 1.25. The husbandry mod itself needs an update before that segment can get a panel.
- Multiplayer is not supported yet
Usage
Turn the mod on for your savegame, then place the pasture like normal. There is nothing to configure, so you can get straight to building.
The mod changes only the fence length check used when placing a pasture. All other placement checks still work, such as owned land, collisions with other objects, and the checks built into the fence tool.
